The Dalai Lama says “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
Physical comfort can be achieved with the supply and use of material goods and objects. Sustained mental and emotional comfort depends on having compassion for oneself and for others.
Odd then, that we all choose perverse self-grasping, ego-protecting, destructive actions in the moment every day. In so doing we hurt ourselves, not just others.
Being mindful of this tendency and having the strength and courage to calm the ego, create an internal dialogue of security, and have compassion for yourself and others will bring us all a much greater chance of truly enjoying life.
Do I choose to write this blog because I choose to write this blog i.e. is it a choice? Or, is it a decision based on circumstance? Answers on a postcard…….
